The Sahara cools down by 20°C at night. Desert nights are cool even in July, and in the winter they can get very close to freezing. Bring a warm fleece, a light scarf for the sand, closed shoes for the camel ride, and a swimsuit for the riad pools. You must wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat all year long.
Book a round-trip tour if you're leaving Marrakech by plane. Our Casablanca-to-Marrakech route saves you a whole day of backtracking if you're going on to Fes, Chefchaouen, or Tangier. This one choice changes which itinerary is best for you. Just tell us your departure airport, and we'll suggest the quickest route.
A shared group tour and a fully private itinerary may only cost 20–30% more, but the experience is very different. Private means you have your own car, you can go at your own pace, you can stop whenever you want to look at something, and you don't have to wake up early to make room for strangers. We almost always suggest private for couples and families.
During the day, temperatures range from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius, and at night, the light that makes the dunes glow is perfect for photographers. Our busiest booking times are in the spring (March to April) and fall (October to November). You should book at least six weeks in advance for these dates. You can go in the summer if you leave at dawn, but the heat in the middle of the day, which is over 40°C, makes sightseeing hard.
The price of your tour includes transportation, lodging, breakfast, and the desert camp. Lunches, drinks, and small tips for co-ops or local guides cost extra, about €15–25 per person per day. Most tourist spots take euros, but Moroccan dirhams are better for villages. In Marrakech, Ouarzazate, and Rissani, ATMs work well.
Most tours leave Casablanca between 7 and 8 in the morning. You can see the Jemaa Hasan II at sunset and have a buffer for flight delays if you arrive the night before. We suggest that you spend your last night in a riad when you get back. You shouldn't have your last Moroccan meal at the airport. We can set up the whole trip, including the riads.

Yes — 10 days is the sweet spot for a first trip. A 10 day morocco itinerary covers all four imperial cities, the blue city of Chefchaouen, Roman Volubilis, the Merzouga Sahara, the southern gorges and Ait Ben Haddou, with three days that involve no real driving at all. What it can't fit is the Atlantic coast south of Casablanca or serious Atlas trekking.
The route runs Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes, Fes, the Middle Atlas, Merzouga, Todra and Dades gorges, Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, the High Atlas and Marrakech — a single forward line with no backtracking. You get a private air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking driver-guide, 9 nights' accommodation including a Sahara camp, breakfasts and dinners, and licensed city guides in Fes and Marrakech.
Both work, but Casablanca to Marrakech is the most efficient shape for a 10 day trip to morocco: it follows the geography north then south without repeating a road. Mohammed V is also Morocco's main international hub, usually with more flight options and better fares than flying straight into Marrakech or Fes.
It's the smarter booking. Flying into Casablanca (CMN) and out of Marrakech (RAK) saves a 2.5–3 hour return drive on the last day and usually costs little or nothing extra. If your ticket is a straight return into Casablanca, we simply transfer you back on day 10 — just tell us at the time of booking.
It depends on your accommodation level, group size and season. Per-person costs drop noticeably once two or more travellers share the vehicle, driver and guide. Send us your dates and group size and we'll return a transparent, all-in quote with no hidden extras.
Day 6, Fes to Merzouga, is the longest at roughly 7–8 hours with stops, and day 8 across the Atlas runs 6–7. Three days involve no real driving at all, and the rest sit between 4 and 5.5 hours, broken up by sightseeing, meals and photo stops.
For most travellers on a 10 days morocco itinerary, yes — you get a sunset camel trek in, dinner under the stars and a dune sunrise. If the desert is the main reason you're coming, we can add a second night at Merzouga and trim elsewhere, or point you to our 14-day route which builds it in.
March to May and September to November are ideal: comfortable city temperatures, warm desert evenings and reliably open Atlas passes. Winter is quieter and cheaper with crisp skies and snow on the peaks. July and August are very hot inland, though Casablanca stays pleasant.

Layers. You'll cross cold Atlas passes, hot desert and cool Rif mountains within the same week. Bring a warm layer for the desert night (close to 0°C in winter), light breathable clothing, a scarf for sun and sand, comfortable walking shoes for the medinas and cash in dirham for lunches and tips.
